My famous furnace, Mk.II, with a load of cherry charcoal, and that's Lionel Oliver's refractory recipe. Tangential tuyere DOES actually get fairly decent airflow, makes a flamin' tornado out of the exhaust port. I'm going to enlarge my sand bed later, 100 lb. of sand doesn't go very far. Spilled metal on rocks could be hazardous to my health, I know. (Hm, aluminum on the rocks . . . :P )
